Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

Neat and franchise-early Washington Capitals circa 1977 game-worn #21 jersey. The Caps might not have fared too well in the tough Wales Conference during their first few seasons of existence, but they were definitely one of the best dressed sporting these patriotic multi-star red white and blue numbers. A Wilson size 46 tag remains in the collar, and the fight strap is still in place and firmly attached. A ton of game use is evident on this v-neck sweater, with numerous small black marks noticeable on the front and sleeves. There is also some separation on a few of the tackle twill "Capitals" letters. With the nameplate removed, we've narrowed this beauty down to probable use in the 1976-77 or 1977-78 seasons, and it was possibly worn by either Mike Lampman or Dave Forbes as they both wore #21 during this period.
