based on tagging in collar should be circa 1981-82 to 1984-85, Kevin Weeks wore #31 most of those years....jersey has very long nameplate and also seems to be another shorter one but still long for Weekes...Ron Scott wore #31 after that from 1985-86 to 1987-88 but didn't play a lot...about 10 team repairs on jersey which was most likely recycled...have checked file folder, ClassicNAS, web, eBay
1980-81 Weekes listed as wearing #31 in numbers book
Marc says: here is what barry Meisel gave me for information:
If it's got a nameplate, and repairs, and it's a game-worn Rangers, it's likely a pre-season jersey re-used for several pre-seasons... Did you search to see who else wore 31 between 1980-81 and 1984-85?
The only way a nameplate might be on a shirt in the regular season is if a callup occurred at the last minute, to save time. But I think that would be very unlikely. If you checked who wore No. 31, that might eliminate the possibility.
But from what you have told me, without having the opportunity to research the shirt, I would say it very likely would be a preseason. And that is if it is even a gamer. Remember that Cosby sold these in their stores in the 80s.
