Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Forever remembered as the ultimate clash for world hockey supremacy, the Summit-Series in 1972 marked the first major battle between east vs. west, with the best Canadian and Russian hockey players each respective country had to offer clashing. This Sher-wood hockey stick was wielded by Yvan Cournoyer, one such combatant. Stamped "Cournoyer" with his #12 and remaining in solid condition, this stick shows good use with a few noticeable puck marks, and is perfect and ready for display.
According to our consignor, this Yvan Cournoyer Sher-wood stick was obtained at the Team Canada training camp, and this model is the correct style used by Cournoyer during the Summit-Series. With a July 7 1972 date stamp on the lower shaft, and custom shaved sides on the upper shaft, this stick retains it's original tape job, with just a few rows of tape now missing from the blade.
