Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Guided by a young inexperienced Patrick Roy, the 1986 Cup winning Canadiens team was a true mix of young and veteran talent. This multi-signed skate in custom shadow display box, which measures 20 1/2" × 18 1/2", makes for a formidable collectable. HOFers Roy, Gainey and Robinson are included showing nice silver signatures, while the skate shows some signs of slight rust and discoloration, mentioned only for accuracy. A unique item celebrating one of the last Cup victories of the bleu-blanc-rouge, this lot comes with a PSA/DNA LOA.
There are 16 Canadiens signatures, including notables Claude Lemieux and Mats Naslund appear courtesy of silver paint pen, with a few bleeding into the mesh area of the skate. The beautifully constructed shadow box swings open from the right, and the skate can easily be flipped around to show off the signatures on the reverse. The back of the box exhibits a little wear, while the skate contains the proper PSA/DNA hologram sticker. With the current stretch of twenty plus years between cups being the historic franchises longest, great team-signed cup items like this are essential to any Habs or Stanley Cup autograph collection.
