Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

When Steve Yzerman hangs a nickname on you, it’s going to stick, and that’s how Johan Franzen came to be known as Mule. Franzen’s 2005-06 Red Wings #39 game-worn rookie season jersey is photo-matched by the black mark on the left shoulder to Getty Images photos from October 22, November 13 and December 9, 2005, as well as to an 8x10 photo included that shows the inventory number heat-screened in red vinyl on the right rear hem and the remains of the washed-out black marks above it on the side of the jersey. We count 14 team repairs and more game wear includes black marks on the front and board burns on the sleeves. Comes with a Red Wings LOA.
Franzen wore #39 as a rookie before switching to #93 when HOF goalie Dominik Hasek returned for his second stint in Detroit.
Size 56 flag tag and Hockeytown team store price tag remain in the back of the neck. The Red Wings 2005-2006 Authentic Game Jersey 1st Set team patch is sewn inside the rear tail.
There are five team repairs on the right sleeve, one on the left shoulder, seven on the left sleeve, and a 3 1/2" long diagonal sewing fix on the left rear tail.
