Vintage circa-1972 Ray Nagle goalie mask was custom-made in New York for Steven Jaspen to wear with his Jackson Heights Hawks roller hockey team. Jaspen had this mask made by Nagle, who worked out of the Gerry Cosby’s right next to Madison Square Garden, after getting hit by a puck in the face while playing at Travers Park (aka 77th Street Park), and according to him, he also wore it while playing semi-pro hockey. Nagle, who was the premiere custom mask maker for local New York goalies, deviated from his usual approach and copied an Ernie Higgins pattern for this molded fiberglass shell, which still has its original thin layer of full padding spread throughout the entire inside of the mask.
