Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Guarding the creases of three different clubs throughout his dozen NHL seasons, Doug Favell was the first goaltender to sport a painted design on his mask. From his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, we have a stick used by the St Catharines native in 1974-75. A Sher-Wood model with “D Favell” and “33” over the upper shaft, the original white tape is in place over the blade and knob, with the striping accents intact over the paddle and handle. There is also a “16 Aout 1974” date stamp along an edge of the paddle. Light game-use is shown with a few marks to the taped section of blade, with a crack/separation at the underside of the heel. There are also a few marks to the shaft.
