Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
From some of the Maple Leafs’ glory years come some infrequently seen pieces to excite collectors of Toronto material, with a 1948-49 Press and Radio Information Book a good start. It has Clarence Campbell’s name penned to the cover and is loaded with interesting player profiles and stats. Gorgeous 8” by 10” individual glossies of the ’63-64 Leafs total 20, while 1930s’ pictures/book covers of Clancy and Horner are scarce “Imperial Series” affairs. A special “Victory of Vision” publication commemorates Maple Leaf Gardens’ 25th anniversary, with a terrific Turofsky photo of the ’54-55 champion Toronto Marlboros featuring numerous future Leafs. Other team photos, photo albums, a 33-1/3 rpm record and miscellaneous items bring the total to 40, with more details available on our website.
A Quaker Oats Maple Leaf Bantam Hockey Club Official Membership Book from 1946-47 has two punch holes in it but doesn’t surface often, while the work of the Turofskys stars in dozens of photos, (over 100), in “The Hockey Album” from ’48-49 (2) and ’49-50. A color Star Weekly picture of the ’57-58 Leafs is a swell display piece, with the ’66-67 Cup champions appearing alongside the trophy in a 5” by 8” glossy. A “Let’s Talk Hockey” record from ’63-64 pictures five Hall-of-Famers on the album cover and has its triple-fold pamphlet still present, with a few surprises awaiting the lucky high bidder. He/she will marvel at the aforementioned 8” by 10” glossy photos from ’63-64, with HOFers Horton, Mahovlich, Armstrong, Bower, Kelly, Stanley, Keon, Pulford and Duff joined by that wonderful supporting cast which helped bring three consecutive Stanley Cup championship to Toronto.
