Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Featuring attractive and well executed images by noted hockey artist and collector Carleton McDiarmid, the Hockey Hall of Fame issued a set of 240 postcards in 1983 paying tribute to enshrined members, issued in fifteen different packs lettered “A” to “O”, with 16 cards per-pack. This lot offers two complete sets – with most still sealed in their original cardboard packs with cellophane, along with a near-complete set of 224/240, missing just package “K”, for a grand total of 704 postcards. At 4” x 6”, each sports a portrait and game-action image along with a postal reverse and short bio. All of the game’s most iconic stars are featured in the set including Cyclone Taylor, Hobey Baker, Lester Patrick, Newsy Lalonde, Georges Vezina, Rocket Richard, Gordie Howe, Bobby Orr and many others. We should note a few of the packages are missing the cellophane with the cards accessible, with no issues whatsoever regarding condition.
