Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
We never cease to marvel at the rarities which land on our doorstep, giving us the opportunity to find appreciative new homes for them. Shirriff coins have forever been popular collectibles since their appearance over five decades ago, with this display a wicked complement to a Shirriff collection. Offered is a section of an uncut sheet of thin cardboard images originally destined to be cut and inserted into circular plastic discs. The familiar depictions of Canadiens Beliveau and Geoffrion and Maple Leafs Mahovlich and Horton show up twice each, with Black Hawks Mikita and Hull present once each near the middle. With moderate soiling and toning and measuring 7” by 15-3/4”, the tantalizing relic is matted and housed in an approximately 14” by 23” antique-looking wooden frame. We doubt you got’em and are curious to find out who needs’em the most – this is cool!
