The New York Yankees won the World Series for the 18th time in 1958, coming back from a 3-1 series deficit against Milwaukee to avenge their seven-game loss to the Braves one year earlier. This 1958 World Series champion Yankees team-signed Reach Official American League baseball is covered with 23 autographs in the same blue ballpoint ink. Yogi Berra has signed on the sweet spot with a Mickey Mantle clubhouse signature below it. Whitey Ford and fellow HOFer Enos Slaughter have also signed along with the likes of Howard, McDougald, Richardson, Bauer, Turley, Skowron, Kubek, Carey, Siebern, Johnson, Duren, Shantz, Trucks and Larsen, who pitched a perfect game against Brooklyn in the World Series two years earlier. Comes with a JSA LOA.
AL president William Harridge’s facsimile autograph is stamped on the ball.
Gil McDougald, Bob Richardson, Elston Howard and Ed Ford read the signatures on the east panel with “1958” written at the bottom in a darker blue ballpoint.
The west panel is signed by Bob Turley, Marv Throneberry, Hank Bauer, Norm Siebern, Al Ditmar, Bill Skowron and Enos Slaughter.
Tony Kubek, Ryne Duren, Jerry Lumpe, Darrell Johnson, Duke Maas, Zack Monroe have signed the panel to the right of the sweet spot, and Murry Dickson, Bob Shantz, Don Larsen, Virgil Trucks and Andy Carey have signed the panel to the left.
