Swell ensemble on Rangers Group 1 Bee Hives features several scarce examples and a minimum of important condition issues. Those picturing Red Garrett and Norman Tustin have a light crease in the photo itself and not-too-detracting creases in the backings, the same as the mat accompanying Vic Myles’ crease-free photo. Both Jim Henry variations are present, with the scarcer “vertical” version including just a few small light stains on the reverse of the beige mat. Bobby Kirk’s picture also displays well, with a previous owner’s name penned to the front of the blue mat and only viewable when the photo itself is lifted. A six-digit inventory number is on the reverse of the mat, the same as on Gord Davidson’s red backing, while Norman Burns (affixed crookedly), and Grant Warwick photos are also on red mats. Among the rest are famous Rangers Boucher, Bill Cook, the Colville brothers, Heller, Hextall, Ching Johnson, Kerr, Murdoch, the Patrick brothers, Clint Smith and Watson, with all of them in what we consider nice collectible condition with no important flaws. Just two other photos, those of Keeling and Shibicky, are glued to obvious replacement backings. All confirmed Group 1 Rangers photos are present here with the exception of the Jim Franks picture, listed in another lot. From a special time in New York, when Lester Patrick, head of hockey’s royal family, was running the show, this lot says “I Love New York!”
