The men who wore the gorgeous sweaters of the New York Americans in the 1930s and ‘40s star in this intriguing grouping of Group 1 Bee Hives, with the team known as the “Brooklyn” Americans in its last (1941-42) NHL season. Numerous valuable pictures and a gambit of conditions to tell you about, with Deed Klein and Alfred Thurier photos displaying well on VG beige backings, with the picture of Allen Shields rather sharp but re-glued onto a replacement backing which is slightly larger and “whiter” than original mats, with the same holding true for ensembles of Joe Lamb (evidence of having once been glued at the bottom corners), and Norm Larson (“198” typed in the lower left corner of the photo itself and “30” in pencil on the back of it). Re-glued to a red mat is Nels Stewart’s photo, with Joe Jerwa and Johnny O’Flaherty pictures pasted to mats of an odd blue color and that of goalie Earl Robinson taped to its accompanying suspect backing. In nice collectible condition with no major flaws are pictures of Allen, Anderson, Benson, Carr, Chapman, Dutton, Egan, Emms, Field, Gallinger, Murray, Schriner, Slobodian, Wiseman, Worters and Wyncherly, with a few re-affixed examples spotted. From a long gone franchise which was actually the first to skate on Madison Square Garden ice, preceding the Rangers by a year, these fantastic images are fine contributors to an important Group 1 Bee Hive collection.
