The famous Punch Line of Richard, Lach and Blake and legendary goalie Bill Durnan are featured in this incredible lot of a dozen Montreal Canadiens "Pep" pins from the late-1940s. Extremely popular among collectors of vintage hockey memorabilia, these small pinback buttons are commonly known as Pep cereals pins even though there is no confirmation that they were indeed a premium from the Kellogg's company. Reardon, Bouchard and O'Connor make it a total of 7 HOFers among the 12 Habs pins featured here that have been beautifully preserved. Mosdell, Reay, Filion, Peters and Chamberlain round out the lot of 7/8" diameter pins. Remarkably clean with sharp, defined images of each player, these Pep pins are seldom seen or offered in such a large quantity, not to mention quality, and they represent a wonderful opportunity! We've divided up the collection into a dozen lots which will be the object of separate bidding. Thus, to take home the entire collection, a bid will be required to be placed that is superior to the sum of the 12 lots that comprise the collection.
The Durnan, Richard, Blake, Lach, Reardon, O’Connor and Mosdell buttons have a cream/off-white tone to the background, while the Bouchard, Chamberlain, Reay and Peters buttons have more of a grayish tone to the background. The Fillion button has a very white background. There is light rust to the back of the Durnan button. The Peters and O’Connor buttons have very light and small areas of rust on the back. The Mosdell button has faint surface scratches/marks and the back of the button has inward creases.
