Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

The scrappy Wilf Paiement came to the Rockies in 1976-77, played three full seasons and then another a half year in Colorado in 1979-80 before he was dealt mid-season to the Leafs where he would wear the number "99", also being worn by a notable member of the Edmonton Oilers during his rookie NHL outing. Paiement's blue mesh Colorado road jersey by Champion (size 50 tag) exhibits heavy game use. Five large repair patches can be found over on the battered right sleeve with a series of nine linear repair stitches holding together the opposite arm. More sewing work is there on the lower back, repairing another open wound. Loads of scuffs, stick marks and more unrepaired holes tell the tale of the wear. A garter style fight strap appears in the tail and this one has a large knit nameplate sewn onto the back above the two-tone tackle twill number "9". The upper left breast shows evidence of the removal of the captain's "C" but you can make out where it once rested. With the sewn-on numbers, rubber front and shoulder crests and all of that wonderful wear, this jersey is full of character mess!
