Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

Stunning gold and diamond creation commemorates the fourth straight Stanley Cup win of the Canadiens dynasty of the late-1970s and evokes memories of the powerful voice of Montreal Forum public address announcer Claude Mouton. The Habs made it four Cup wins in a row in the spring of 1979, sweeping the Maple Leafs before getting past the Bruins in a tough semi-final that turned on Boston’s too-many-men penalty in Game 7. Yvon Lambert scored the Cup-winning goal in the fifth game of the final against the New York Rangers as Montreal won the Cup on home ice for the first time since 1968. Bob Gainey contributed six goals and 16 points to claim the Conn Smythe Trophy. This magnificent 1978-79 Canadiens Stanley Cup ring presented to the late Claude Mouton displays 22 real diamonds. There are four diamonds on the tableau along with the image of the Stanley Cup and the "76-77-78-79" years that the Habs skated off with Lord Stanley’s silverware. There are 18 diamonds on the bezel and the total diamond weight is 110 points. One shank displays "1979" and "NHL Champions Coupe Stanley Cup" with the team’s “52-17-11” regular season mark at the bottom. The other displays “Mouton”, the CH logo, and “Club de Hockey Canadien” at the bottom. "Josten’s 14K" is stamped inside the size 8 1/2-9 ring, which weighs approximately 28 grams. Proud wear shows in some smoothing to the tableau and a few scratches to Cup there, as well as scratches, nicks and minor dings to the back of the band. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Comes with an LOA from the Mouton family.
