Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

Intriguing piece of lumber is this vintage one-piece Lund stick with the most amazing lie you’ll ever come across. This C.A. Lund example, measuring 62” in length, displays vintage tape on the blade (with red coloring on the bottom) and tape is also used as the accent stripe. Lettered as “Amateur” on the shaft, with handwriting “R. Alger” in 2 different places, this old beauty features a nice amount of original Lund paper label still attached to the shaft and although the wood has darkened with age, remains in great shape with various chips on the shaft and blade to note. But what truly stands out is the low lie, with an angle that would make someone bend over in an extreme angle to handle properly. The more upright a stick is, the higher the lie number, and if most sticks are in the “5” or “6” range, we put this unmarked gem as “2” or “3” at best. Definitely a delightful conversation piece from C.A. Lund, the Minnesota company founded in 1911 by Christian Lund, and the company whose hockey sticks evolved into the iconic Northland brand.
