Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Goaltending legend and deceased HOFer Jacques Plante signed and dated his 1972-73 Toronto Maple Leafs game-used stick. Jake the Snake wrote, “Feb. 16/73, Best Wishes, Jacques Plante” in blue ballpoint on the back side of the shaft just above his white tape job on the handle of his Sher-Brooke gamer with blue, white and gold stripes on the paddle. “Game” is written in red letters above the “J Plante” stamp high on the shaft which has “Maple Leafs” factory printed lower down. Game use includes red goalpost paint transfer on the front of the paddle and high on the back of the shaft, which retains Jacques’ original tape knob. The blade also has Plante’s original black tape job. There is a hole drilled through the bottom of the shaft.
Plante was traded by the Maple Leafs to Boston on March 3, 1973.
