Here’s an NHL record that may never be challenged: Mike Bossy’s nine straight 50-goal seasons – to begin his Hall of Fame career. Wow! The New York Islanders great scored 61 in 1985-86, his fifth 60-goal season. Bossy was named to the NHL First All-Star Team for the fifth and final time, adding to his three nominations to the Second All-Star Team. This 1986 Wales Conference vintage pro jersey is made up just like the one Bossy wore for his final NHL All-Star Game appearance in Hartford, Connecticut. Bossy set up Bryan Trottier’s overtime winner with a backhand pass between Campbell defenseman Paul Coffey’s legs on a 2-on-1 to give the Wales a 4-3 win at the Hartford Civic Center on February 4, 1986. Gerry Cosby tagging sits in the back of the neck of this Bossy No. 22 jersey with a fight strap and embroidered CCM logo on the right rear tail that features professional lettering and numbering. With “Wales” cascading down the front in sewn-on black and orange double twill letters, and “Bossy” spelled out in the same drop-shadow style material individual letters sewn on the back, this beauty from back in the day is done up just like the one the HOF right wing was wearing for his fantastic All-Star Game swan song.
