Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
From defenceman Don Awrey, who, along with suiting up with the Bruins and a handful of other teams including the legendary 1972 Team Canada squad during his 1960s and’70s playing days, was also a Montreal Canadien for 2 seasons from 1974 to 1976. Offered is Awrey’s 1980s Montreal Canadiens Original Six Oldtimer’s game-worn jersey, fashioned in the Habs style but with a “Montreal” logo sewn on the front instead of the CH. Tagged in the collar as a “Maska (size) XL”, this vintage gamer, that shows some faint creasing in the team logo and a few marks and material pulls scattered about, features “Labatt’s Original Six Hockey Heroes” patches sewn on each sleeve, while on the back is “Awrey” lettering sewn on a red nameplate, along with Awrey’s sewn-on number “26”. Simply a great oldtimer’s gamer from a terrifc d-man who patrolled the blueline for 969 regular season and 71 playoff games.
