Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Originally purcheased from Lelands in 2007 are these cool New York Yankees cleats worn by six-time All-Star Robinson Cano in 2006, his 2nd year with the Yankees, the team he would star with for 9 seasons before moving west in 2014 to suit up with the Seattle Mariners. Showing scuffing and with infield dirt still lodged between the cleats, these size 13 “Nike Huarache” gamers have Cano’s original #22 on the back of each boot, a number he would relinquish in 2007 when the Yankees signed Roger Clemens. A great pair of cleats from one of baseball’s finest modern day stars.
The much-decorated Cano, who also lists among his many achievements a 2012 Gold Glove Award and a World Series ring with the Bronx Bombers in 2009, was named after baseball great Jackie Robinson, and after relinquishing number 22 to Clemens, chose 24, a reversal of the Robinson's number 42 in honour of him.
