Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
The focus is on defencemen with this solid collection of game-used sticks from Kevin Lowe, Marty McSorley, Dave Manson, Mathieu Schneider, Steve Duchesne, Dave Ellett, and Carol Vadnais, deceased in 2014, whose circa 1971 Sher-Wood gamer, with original blade and knob tape, shows signatures in ballpoint pen on the shaft from Vadnais, Boom Boom Geoffrion, Pierre Bouchard, Yvan Cournoyer, Guy Lapointe, Lacques Lemaire, Claude Provost, and several minor leaguers. The blade tape is inscribed “To Dave Marshall”, but from an unknown writer. A cool stick, with “Vadnais 5” stamped on the upper shaft. Kevin Lowe’s Koho has his original tape on the blade and knob, game marks show from top to bottom, and Lowe has written on the shaft in blue ink “To Bob, All the best, Kevin Lowe”. A handwritten “4” and a stamped “Lowe” are on the shaft as well. Marty McSorley’s game-used Canadien, with marks lining it, has his original blade and knob tape, “McSorley” is stamped on the upper shaft, while code numbers are stamped closer to the heel. Dave Manson’s Sher-Wood has his original blade and knob tape, marks are scattered about, and near the top of the shaft, “Manson” is stamped on, and the number “23” has been blacked out and number “24” handwritten in blue marker on the white knob tape. Mathieu Schneider’s Martinville has his original blade and knob tape, a few marks and red paint transfer are near the blade, “M. Schneider” has been printed on, and a handwritten “27” added. Steve Duchesne’s Sher-Wood has his original knob tape but none on the blade (which has some slight damage on the bottom), marks line the shaft, “Duchesne 28” is stamped on the upper shaft, and close to the heel is a stamped-on “Los Angeles” along with a series of different numbers. And lastly, Dave Ellett’s Louisville has his original tape on the blade (slightly unraveled), knob, marks and chips in the wood are on the shaft, and “Ellett” is stamped on the upper shaft along with a handwritten “4”.
