Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Habs fans and stick collectors in general will love what we’re offering here. A collection of 6 “pattern sticks” from HOFers Guy Lapointe (ind. 1993) and Serge Savard (ind. 1986), plus Peter Mahovlich, Shane Corson, Claude Lemieux, and Guy Carbonneau examples. Pattern sticks are game-used sticks sent to manufacturing companies where the tape is removed and the sticks kept as “patterns” for future production. The 4-digit numbers handwritten on each blade and shaft are reference numbers for the makers. Each stick has the player’s name stamped on the upper shaft, with Lapointe’s stick being a Koho, Savard’s a Canadien, Mahovlich’s a Sher-Wood, Corson’s an Artis, Lemieux’s a Sher-Wood, and Carbonneau’s an Artis. The knobs of both Lapointe’s and Savard’s have been shaven, Carbonneau’s has a handwritten “March 31, ‘89” on the shaft, and Lemieux’s is marked on the shaft as “3 doz”. Rare and curious, these 6 Habs sticks, showing definite game-marks scattered about, would make for a cool conversation piece and excellent display.
