Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Originally a star in Russia who opened North American eyes with his stellar performance during the Rendez-Vous 87 tourney in Quebec City which pitted NHL players against the Soviets, Valeri Kamensky would ultimately wind up playing in the NHL, one of the early Russians to come to America before the parade began. Offered is Kamensky’s game-used Sher-Wood stick from his first season in the NHL, 1991-92, when he joined the Quebec Nordiques and wore number 17 during this rookie season (he would later change to #13). With his original tape on the blade and knob, this stick, in excellent condition and showing a small amount of game marks, has “Kamenski 17” stamped on the upper shaft, while closer to the heel, the great Russian has signed his name and number in clear and bold black marker. A very fine gamer from one of the early Russian stars in the NHL.
