Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Exceptional and historical hockey card artifacts are these two thin metal sheets which were used in the production of Topps’ blue-bordered 1962-63 trading cards, featuring the Black Hawks, Rangers and the Bruins. What fun it is to spot the familiar images of Hull, Hall, Mikita, Ratelle, Gilbert, Worsley, Bucyk, Bathgate, the checklist, team cards and more, with some more decipherable than others, depending on which sheet you’re viewing. The one with “Hockey # 3070-A BLUE” penned to the bottom edge has blue ink/residue affecting approximately one-third of the images, with Ratelle and Mikita displaying nicely side-by-side in the lower right region, while the “#3070 A YELLO Hockey” sheet has fainter images, with however Bathgate, Mikita and Vasko appearing clearer in two seemingly “washed” circular areas. Measuring 27” by 30”, these fascinating relics are wicked cool!
