Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

Before they were the Senators (or Silver Seven), the professional gang in Ottawa were known simply as the Ottawa Hockey Club (or Generals), formed in 1884 and remaining that until 1902 when "Senators" became the handle. Unearthed from the “Ottawa Hockey Club” days is this incredible, and it goes with out saying rare metal pinback, measuring 1 ¼” in diameter, reading as “Ottawa Hockey Club” and displaying the time-honored red, white, and black colors associated with Ottawa teams. A gem in excellent, unscratched condition, this rarity has paper inserted on the back showing the patent date of 1986. Amazing.
The back reads fully as “Buttons made by The Whiteheads & Hoag Co, Newark N.J. U.S.A. Pat. April 14, 1896, July 21, 1896”. Truly a magnificent hockey pinback from a team that would hoist Lord Stanley’s mug in 1903, 1904, 1905, 1909 and 1911.
