Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
This 1880s-1890s one-piece Spalding wooden stick with a rounded blade was likely used to play ice polo, an American precursor to ice hockey which peaked in the late 19th Century. The famous Spalding logo remains clearly stamped on one side of the blade with “No” and “B” stamped on either side of it, respectively. Measuring 40" from the tip of the blade to the top of the tapered shaft, this awesome artifact has a pair of chips on the same side of the blade on either side of the bottom edge of the heel. There are a couple of small white marks on the other side of the blade.
