The 1993-94 New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup in a thrilling seven-game final against the Vancouver Canucks that allowed the Broadway Blueshirts and their faithful fans to finally put the specter of 1940 behind them once and for all. When HOF captain Mark Messier hoisted Lord Stanley’s prized silver chalice above his head at Madison Square Garden, the Cup was home in Manhattan for the first time in 54 years! This spectacular Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup Champions 10-karat gold and diamond ring weighs approximately 42 grams and comes with its original presentation box. It was obtained from John Gentile, the Rangers’ Director of Administration in 1993-94, who confirmed that this was the only Stanley Cup ring he received from the team. The tableau displays “Rangers” in raised gold with blue enamel paint cascading across a bed of 20 diamonds. “Stanley Cup Champions” is spelled out around the bezel with “1994” across the top of the right shank, and the team’s hardware below it, with the Stanley Cup surrounded by the Prince of Wales and Presidents’ Trophy, and “112 PTS” on a chevron at the bottom. “Gentile” is spelled out across the top of the left shank, with an enamel painted Rangers team crest below it over the Manhattan skyline, “DirAdm” beneath that, and “Heave Ho” in a chevron at the bottom. "Balfour 10K" is stamped inside the size 10 band which also has “1940” circled and crossed through engraved below it. Beautifully preserved 1994 Stanley Cup ring displays light scratches along the back edge of the band from proud wear. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA and an additional LOA confirming its provenance.
Lidded wood presentation box measures 7 1/2” x 6” and stands just over 2 1/2" high. “New York Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup Champions” is etched in the oval glass insert in the top of the hinged lid, which has a small chip on the upper back edge.
