Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Classic late-1960s Detroit Red Wings #14 game-worn jersey has Olympic tagging and a size 46 flag tag in the back of the neck, and The General Greenville, Ohio tagging inside the left rear tail. There were a number of players who wore #14 for Detroit during that era and the evidence of a former “C” on the right breast leads us to believe this Winged Wheel gamer may have been recycled to a Red Wings farm team. Game wear includes team repairs on the left rear tail and right sleeve, solid black marks all over the front, board burns on the sleeves, a burn hole on the left sleeve and a board burn with blue paint transfer on the right shoulder.
There are reddish-brown stains below the front collar, on the right front and tail, and a few on the back, and a hole on the left front tail. The Winged Wheel team logo sewn on the front features white thread embroidering on a red twill crest. The numbers on the back are sewn-on red twill, with sewn-on white twill numbers on the sleeves.
