Still going strong at age 37, Maple Leaf center Norm Ullman reached yet another important milestone midway through the 1972-73 season when he scored career goal number 450. Norm's CCM Custom Pro milestone stick has "Ullman" stamped on the front of the shaft, with his number "9" added above in black marker and below the black-taped knob. The black tape on the (chipped) blade features a nice slice in it, with black puck and stick marks scattered over the exposed blade and lower shaft. A Hall of Fame inventory number is on the back of the shaft, while a piece of white tape higher up on the front reads "450th Goal". Returned to Ullman from the Hall and originally from the HOFer collection.
Sunday, January 7th was the date and Maple Leaf Gardens the place, with the goal coming late in the third period (17:09) in a 4-0 victory over the visiting California Golden Seals. The victim was Ullman's former teammate, Marv Edwards, with Paul Henderson and Mike Pelyk drawing the assists. A participant in nine NHL All-Star games in the 1960s, Ullman went on that season to reach the 20-goal plateau for the 15th time in his career.
