Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

Oh, how J.C. Tremblay could make a puck dance. Two of the late great defenseman’s Canadiens game-used magic wands Victoriaville Pro sticks, both with original tape jobs, include J.C’s 1965 Stanley Cup champions team-signed stick. A sticker affixed to the shaft indicates that Tremblay used it in Game 7 of the final. Tremblay and HOFers Beliveau, Cournoyer and the late Gump Worsley are among the 16 blue ballpoint signatures along the shaft, most of which look hurried, which makes sense on a Stanley Cup-winning night! Also included is Tremblay’s circa late-1960s Habs gamer.
J.C.’s team-signed gamer has “Tremblay” stamped on the shaft and his No. “3” handwritten above it in black marker. “Mailhot & Freres” is stamped on each side of the shaft and “Fiberglass Patented 1960 #591454” is stamped low on the shaft. Others who have signed include Backstrom, Rousseau, Balon, Larose, Talbot (2), Gilles Tremblay, Picard, Harper, Berenson and Gauthier, who only played two playoff games for the 1964-65 Canadiens. Berenson played three regular season games and nine playoff games. The French label affixed to the shaft reads “Souvenir 7 ieme partie Coupe Stanley 1965.” Good game wear with the bottom edge of the tape job towards the toe partially worn through, red and blue paint transfer and black marks, a crack on the bottom edge of the shaft down to heel and a chip on the bottom edge of the blade.
Tremblay’s circa late-1960s Victoriaville Pro gamer has Canadiens red, white and blue tape on the shaft, which is stamped “3” and “J.C. Tremblay” below his original tape job on the knob. “Mailhot & Freres” is stamped on each side of the shaft and the Fiberglass Patented stamp is low on the front of the shaft. Solid and crack-free gamer has J.C.’s original tape job towards the toe of the blade. Solid game wear with plenty of black marks and some red paint transfer on the bottom edge of the blade.
