Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

For Wayne Gretzky, 1982 was quite a year as The Great One would see himself with an astounding 92 goals when the smoke finally cleared. From March 2, 1982 when the Oilers were at the Forum in Montreal is this nicely framed photo of Gretzky receiving a wood carving from the legendary Maurice Richard, the man who once notched 50 goals in 50 games but saw Gretzky score an unreal 50 in 39 games during the ’81-’82 campaign. Capping off the cool photo is an Oilers pucks signed by Gretzky and a Habs puck signed by Richard, both in clear gold marker. Great display in great condition, with just 1 small mark on the frame to keep it from being pristine. Comes with 2 COAs from WGA .
The plaque featured on the display reads as “Maurice (Rocket) Richard presents Edmonton Oilers’ Wayne Gretzky with a wood carving in recognition of the most goals scored in one NHL season during a ceremony in Montreal, March 2, 1982”.
