Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

November 22, 2003 was a frigid day in Edmonton when the first outdoor NHL game was played between the Oilers and Habs, and before the regular contest got underway, the MegaStars game, featuring retired stars from the 2 teams, was played. We’ve got a couple of limited-edition, signed and framed beauties here, beginning with a framed photo measuring 29 ½” x 30 ½” overall of Gretzky, Lafleur, and Messier, nicely signed in bold blue marker by the 3 legends and hand-numbered a delightful “1/99”. Another framed piece, showing Gretzky and Lafleur taking the ceremonial faceoff with Saku Koivu and Jason Smith, measures 28” x 30 ½” overall, is hand-numbered also as a perfect “1/199”, and signed by both Gretzky and Lafleur in clear and bold blue marker.
Both displays have Wayne Gretzky Authentic (WGA) holograms place on the bottom right corners, and both come complete with WGA COAs. In excellent condition with only the face-off display showing a tiny mark on the frame, it’s a terrific reminder (with amazing signatures) of a great, albeit very cold day in Edmonton.
