Shockingly traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs to Colorado on December 29, 1979, Lanny McDonald was dealt once again on November 25, 1981, this time from the Rockies to the Calgary Flames along with a draft pick in return for Don Lever and Bob MacMillan. Offered from Lanny's personal collection is what is most likely his first Flames game-worn home jersey from the 1981-82 season with the #9 he would ultimately see retired by the team at the end of his Hall of Fame career. This white mesh affair with Sandow SK tagging in the neck (with a handwritten size 50) and a Sandow logo below the red and yellow bands heat-screened around the tails displays a nameplate removal. Denis Cyr wore #9 for the Flames in 1980-81 and part of the following season before switching to #12, which had been worn by Lever. Lanny totaled 40 goals and 82 points overall in 1981-82, including 34 goals and 67 points in 55 games with the Flames. The red and yellow bands on the sleeves are also heat-screened vinyl, which has dried up somewhat and shows cracks, as do the red and yellow bands on the yellow mesh hem. The Flaming C crest (with some puckering) is sewn-on triple twill, and the numbers on the back and sleeves and surname letters on the nameplate are all sewn-on double twill. Game-wear shows in a small scattering of marks on the front and on the tail, board burns on the left sleeve, and a touch of paint transfer on the right sleeve. Extremely important game-worn jersey from the man inducted into the HOF in 1992, and comes with Lanny's signed LOA.
