It was the 93rd Grey Cup game, with the spectacle held at Vancouver's BC Place on November 27, 2005 and featuring a mighty clash between the best in the west Edmonton Eskimos and the champs from the east, the Montreal Alouettes. Back and forth it went, and in the end it would be the Eskimos hoisting the ancient mug after a thrilling 38-35 victory that was finally decided in overtime, the first time in more than four decades that overtime had come into play. Playing in that magnificent thriller was Marcus Winn, a defensive back from Alabama State in his first season in the Canadian Football League and coming out a winner when all was said and done. We have Winn's Eskimos Grey Cup ring from that big '05 victory in Vancouver, a size 12 bauble and as beautiful as it gets. Stamped on the inside with "Jostens", "10K", and words "Dig Deep", this eye popper has a weight of approximately 61 grams and displays the image of the Grey Cup on the face, assembled from real diamonds that also surround the Cup and make their way around the perimeter at the top of the shanks and beyond. The raised lettering "Grey Cup Champions" flank the diamond-filled face, while one shank displays the score (with more diamonds), and the other shank reads as "Winn 2005". An absolute stunner of a championship ring, and comes in its' original 4 1/2" case that includes an Eskimos pin and an attached breakdown of what the ring consists of. The included notes in the box describing the ring are as follows: Eskimos Logo – Word Mark across the Grey Cup is new for the 2005 season; Grey Cup – Marquise cut diamond represents November 27, 2005 Grey Cup game. Princess cut diamonds represent the previous 12 championship teams. Green stone, the turf at Commonwealth Stadium, elevates the molded Grey Cup. Flanking the Grey Cup and ESKIMOS, the words “Grey Cup” on left and “Champions” on right; Lower deck – 20 round cut diamonds pave set in yellow gold; Outside – 34 round cut diamonds celebrate pro-record consecutive playoff appearances – total of 54 diamonds symbolizes each player; Left Shank – Final score “Edmonton 38 Montreal 35” on top and “Double OT” on bottom, 3 round diamonds on a road, represent 3 road wins – 1 in Calgary & 2 in Vancouver. “2005” and “93rd Grey Cup” logo in yellow gold to represent team colours; Right Shank – Personalized with name and number, Commonwealth Stadium in yellow gold, and interlocking EE logo in team colours rising above the stadium; Engraved inside your ring – your mantra “Dig Deep”.
