Terrific trio of mementos from Habs net custodian Gerry McNeil who stopped pucks for the bleu, blanc et rouge beginning in 1949 and ending during the '56-'57 campaign. From McNeil's Montreal Royals days when he and his teammates captured the Allan Cup is this cool medal engraved on the back as "Montreal Royals, 1947, G. McNeil." We also have a pendant received by McNeil while playing for the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League. Lastly, McNeil's personal scrapbook filled with clippings detailing his days beginning as a bantam and moving forward through the junior ranks and into the QSHL with the Montreal Royals. The fascinating book, measuring 12" x 14", is 74 pages crammed with young McNeil's exploits and remains in very good condition.
The front of McNeil’s Allan Cup medal has an enameled logo with text that reads "Allan Cup C.A.H.A." and has a figural hockey player. The medal shows light surface wear and otherwise is in strong excellent+ condition. The pendant from McNeil’s Rochester Americans days has crossed hockey sticks surrounded by "American Hockey League 57-58." While the back has engraving that reads "Alternate All-Star Team, Gerry McNeil, Rochester, Goaltender." The pendant shows light surface wear but otherwise is in strong excellent+ condition and displays very nicely.
