Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

"And now ... here they are ... The Beatles!" With those words KRLA's Bob Eubanks introduced Californian fans to the Fab Four, whose 1964 and 1965 shows at the Hollywood Bowl were recorded for a live album project. Beatles producer George Martin dismissed the recordings as unlistenable, likening the crowd noise to a jet engine. The master tapes sat in EMI's vaults until the late-1970s, when the songs were remixed, cleaned up and released as "The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl" by Capitol Records. Offered is a rare 1977 Capitol Records of Canada Beatles Hollywood Bowl LP album promotional store "Beatles" display, with the profile images of John, Paul, George and Ringo depicted in raised relief at the top of this huge rigid plastic piece. There are four slots at the bottom in which to place albums that the store could swap out. The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl is one of the four Beatles LP record sleeves included here along with The Beatles/1962-1966, The Beatles/1967-1970, and Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. The display comes in its original cardboard box addressed to Capitol Records / EMI of Canada on the Wolfe Bros. Advertising Industries Ltd. label which displays the manufacturer's Toronto address. You're such a lovely audience, you'd love to take this home with you, you'd love to take this home! The store display has been very nicely preserved overall. The top right corner is fully intact while the three other corners have chips and cracks to note: the top left corner has a crack and is missing a small chip, the bottom right corner has a small chip, and the bottom left corner has a bigger missing chip. The displays's box has the Wolfe Bros. shipping label on the front and the Wolfe Bros. logo with "Capitol Records Beatle Merchandiser" stamped in blue on the back. The box has plenty of wear that includes water damage stains and tears on the edges and corners.
