Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
From the University of Florida Gators comes a game-worn Gators helmet circa mid-2000s, with player unknown, with the Gators decal on both sides, and "Sunshine", "SEC" and the American flag decals on the back. The chin strap is missing, but the face mask and inner padding are complete and intact. Under the padding is "Large", plus a consumer warning and "Riddell Inc. 06-07" stickers, along with handwritten numbers which look to be "07-71". Another inside sticker has the wording blacked out with marker. The mask in particular shows great evidence of turf wars. The Florida Gators aren’t just a Johnny-Come-Lately by any stretch. This is a university team that’s been around for more than a century, with a veritable plethora of great players who have suited up for the team at one time or another, including Emmitt Smith, Jack Youngblood, and Cris Collinsworth. This helmet originally was bought from the team with a choice of style but no way of knowing the player who wore it.
