Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
The Western Hockey League Portland Winter Hawks have had fine success over the years, including a couple of Memorial Cups and a plethora of league and playoff titles, with a nice amount of this success occurring during the 1980s when players such as Cam Neely and Glen Wesley wore the jersey. We have a game-worn Winterhawks jersey from the mid-1980s, tagged in the collar as a “Cooper Extra Large” and featuring number “19” on the back and sleeves but has the nameplate removed, as was the case with most Winter Hawks jerseys from that era. On the hem is an embroidered “Cooper” logo, and the inside fight strap consists only of the loop with no laces. A small scattering of marks are on the front and sleeves, along with an unrepaired hole on the left cuff, while the team crest and back numbers show puckering. This gamer was originally obtained from a member of the Hawks equipment staff, and to note, the team was known as the “Winter Hawks” until 2009 when they changed to “Winterhawks”.
