Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Mickey Redmond, winner of two Stanley Cups and member of the 1972 Team Canada Summit Series squad, (and part of a package that saw the Habs ship him to Detroit in exchange for Frank Mahovlich), wore this Red Wings Oldtimers jersey in the mid-1980s, most likely for the televised Original Six Oldtimers’ series shown in Canada on Saturdays on the Global Network. Tagged in the collar as a “Rawlings L”, this red and white jersey has the Detroit oldtimers crest sewn on the front and Redmond’s name and number “20” sewn in single tackle twill on the back. Some yellowing has occurred on the front crest, and some light marks along the white strip near the hem are evident. Redmond, along with Guy Charron and Bill Collins, were the package the Habs gave up to get the Big M, which may have worked out for both parties as Redmond would become the first Red Wing to score at least 50 goals, when he notched 52 in 1972-73 and another 51 in ‘73-74.
