The late George “Punch” Imlach is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s builders section for guiding the Toronto Maple Leafs dynasty that won the Stanley Cup four times in the 1960s. Punch’s hockey roots trace back through Quebec City, where he spent 11 years with the Quebec Aces, first as a player from 1945 to 1949 and then as the Quebec Senior Hockey League team’s coach, general manager and part owner where he oversaw Jean Beliveau’s rise to hockey stardom. A center who produced at better than a point per game over the course of his four seasons in Quebec, Punch had career highs with 26 goals and 26 assists for 52 points in 50 games in his final season as a player with the Aces in 1948-49. He gave this pair of his Quebec Aces game-worn gloves to defenceman Guy Labrie, a teammate for his last three seasons. Classic brown leather gloves with lots of solid padding in the cuffs show great vintage game wear. Bright red plastic inserts are exposed on the outer edges and thumbs of both gloves, with a vintage team tape repair on the left glove. The palms show great wear with a vintage patch on the right thumb of these hole-free beauties with a HOF pedigree.
