Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Formidable and desirable high grade card from Imperial Tobacco's very first hockey card issue in 1910-11 pictures legendary Hall-of-Famer Art Ross in his Haileybury turtleneck sweater and has deservedly received lofty EX-MT 6 recognition from PSA. Bold rich colors are striking, with the card's back mentioning the future Boston Bruins coach and manager as a sporting goods merchant and listing his previous Brandon, Kenora and Wanderers teams. One of the pre-NHL era's finest players, Ross won Stanley Cups with the latter two teams before leaving his mark on the hockey world as an innovator, strategist, promoter and executive. Just four NM 7 examples of card #12 edge out this beauty on the PSA Population Report, which joins four other 6s. An outstanding rendition of a hockey icon.
