Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
A nifty trip back to the 10-cent-a-pack era of card collecting, and onwards, is offered with this huge stack of O-Pee-Chee wrappers, with a single 1971-72 OPC Poster wrapper leading things off. There are (30) from '75-76, while WHA wrappers include (27) '74-75s and three each from '75-76 and '77-78. OPC baseball wrappers date back to 1974 (31), with plenty of multiples also from 1975 (32), 1976 (196), 1977 (232), 1978 (75), 1979 (183) and 1980 (84). Meanwhile the hockey entries include ten 20-cent jobs from Wayne Gretzky's ('79-80) rookie year, with the rest of the pile with interesting break-up value detailed on our website. Other hockey wrappers are four each from ’76-77 and ’77-78, seven from ’78-79, (four of them folded), (84) from ’80-81, (25) from ’81-82, (54) from ’82-83 and a couple of dozen folded jobs from either ’87-88 or ’88-89. The vast majority of the collection appears to have been stored flat for years, with standard fold lines, as well as expected intermittent edge tears spotted here and there. The ’71-72 OPC hockey poster wrapper has two edge tears to mention, along with a small piece missing along the lower edge. Lots of possibilities with this dandy hoard. [red]Addendum; The mentioned 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee hockey poster wrapper is actually a 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee WHA hockey poster wrapper.[/red]
