Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Two legendary figures, Leafs president Conn Smythe and NHL prez Frank Calder, have signed their names in clear black ink on this October 31, 1940 Player's Contract for forward Norman Mann who was hoping to forge a career in the bigs. This pristine 2-page Leafs contract was drawn up for the 1940-41 campaign and stipulates that Mann would be paid $3500 if he plays in the NHL and $2000 if he's sent to the minors. Mann would suit up for the Leafs for 15 games that season. Along with the 2 legendary figures, Mann has also signed this legal document and a witness has added his name twice. Frank Calder, who passed away in 1943, was inducted into the HOF in 1947. Conn Smythe was inducted in 1958 and passed away in 1980.
