Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Two original Toronto Telegram Leafs photos headline this intriguing potpourri of Leafs photos and guides from days gone by. The two black and white glossies, measuring 11” x 14”, have the Tely stamp on the back of each, with the first from the iconic 1951 game 5 of the Finals when Tod Sloan scored the tying goal with 32 seconds remaining, setting the stage for Bill Barilko’s heroics in overtime. The second glossy is a tremendous shot of 1967 Cup Finals action with Leafs' Bob Pulford scoring the winner behind Habs goalie Rogie Vachon in the 2nd overtime of game 3 in Toronto. Another 7 photos from the ’50-’51 playoffs are included here, measuring 8” x 10”, with 4 attached to blue cardboard backing, and 3 on backing but also with glass fixed to the top, which unfortunately has damaged the great shots to some degree. One of the 7 shots is of Teeder Kennedy embracing the Stanley Cup, while the other 6 involve the Leafs and Habs in Finals action. Three others complete the photo lot – 1 from the ’47-’46 semifinals with Leafs’ Nick Metz scoring the winner against the Bruins, another having the Leafs’ Max Bentley scoring on the Wings in game 5 of the '49-50 playoffs at Detroit, and a third is a 12" x 16" cardboard holding 3-1940s Leafs shots. Also in this lot are 5 Leafs guides measuring 5” x 8” and include 1961-62, ’63-’64, ’64-’65, ’66-‘67, and ’67-’68. All guides range between 50 and 60 pages and are in very nice condition. Lastly a 4” x 7” Maple Leaf Hockey and Premium booklet disturbed by Quaker Oats from the 1948-49 season, but shows poor condition with marks, tears, and creases.
