The 1928-29 Boston Bruins weren't a new team in the NHL, they'd already been around for a full four years prior, but it was a year the Bruins would finish in first place and win their very first Stanley Cup. We have a very cool original 8" x 10" wirephoto of the Bruins from that historic season, with Tiny Thompson, Frank Fredrickson, Eddie Shore and the rest of the gang sort of smiling as they say cheese for the camera. We also offer an original 8" x 10" wirephoto of Bruins goaltender Hal Winkler, dated on the back as May 28, 1927, (along with another partial date), plus we have a great 1922-23 Boston Arena program featuring the Victoria vs. New Haven and Boston A.A. vs Boston Hockey Club. Along with the names mentioned, the 1928-29 Bruins team wirephoto also includes Cy Denneny,( who had come over from the Ottawa Senators in the off-season to become player/coach), plus other such stars as team captain Lionel Hitchman, Dit Clapper, Harry Oliver, and rookie Cooney Weiland. This original photo retains its typed lineup sheet attached to the back, and in pencil is handwriiten “Transcript for Monday”. The photo shows some wear on the edges, with a couple of corners missing and tape residue showing on the back, but all in all is in very nice condition. Goaltender Hal Winkler’s wirephoto has his name written in pencil on the back along with “1 col 4 pm Sunday” scratched over, with the edges showing some age wear but overall is in nice condition. The 1922-23 Arena program measures 6 ¼” x 9 ¼” with all the pages still intact, and has a crease running from top to bottom. This old relic has numerous great old skate ads (eg $5.50 for men and boys pairs), and includes the lineup for the March 10, 1923 Victorias vs. New Haven and B.A.A. vs. the Boston Hockey Club. A gem of a program which features future 1924 USA Olympic players Frank Synnott, Alphonse Lacroix, Willard Rice, Irving Small, and John Langley.
