Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Dandy souvenir of the Toronto Maple Leafs' Stanley Cup victory in the spring of 1963, this silver colored serving tray features the images of hockey's ultimate prize and the Prince of Wales Trophy, along with facsimile autographs of the men who brought the Leafs their second of three consecutive Cup titles. Handled tray measures just over 10" by 17" and remains in very nice condition that shows no scratching and only a touch of tarnishing and aging. Comes complete with its original box which is somewhat worn and opened in places on its edges, and has a couple of pieces of tape on the lid. A small card included says "With the Compliments of Dominion Stores". Toronto claimed the regular season crown with 82 points, one ahead of Chicago. The Leafs added the Cup to their hardware haul by dispatching Montreal and Detroit in the playoffs, both in five games. Dave Keon set a record with two shorthanded goals in the Leafs' 3-1 Cup clincher over the Red Wings at Maple Leaf Gardens.
