Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

The Maska tag is missing in the collar of this Rick Wamsley gamer, but the size 52 tag remains, with the jersey showing numerous marks and material snags, a healthy dose of team repairs of which we count at least 11 in various places, along with unrepaired holes on the left sleeve and cuff, some red paint transfer on the right sleeve, and puckering on the team crest and back number. Wamsley has signed the back of the jersey, with the signature being slightly faded. To note is the placement of the Maska logo on the hem which dates this gamer from the '80-'81 season but used by Wamsley the following year. There is evidence of a former nameplate as well. This jersey is photo-matched to the black mark under the #1 on the right sleeve on 4 different photos, including an action photo from 1981-82 showing Don Nachbaur wearing the Whalers 10th anniversary patch. Comes photo-matched to 4 different photos. Wamsley donned this Habs gamer during the 1981-82 season, his first year as a full-time player, and one that saw him share the William M. Jennings Trophy with fellow netminder Denis Herron for fewest allowed goals in the NHL.
