Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Memories of a time when the New York Islanders ruled the roost, when the Long Island team would capture 4 straight Stanley Cups with a powerhouse lineup which included all-purpose centerman Butch Goring going about his job in workmanlike-fashion. Offered are 5 reminders of those Long Island glory days, including 3 ceramic mugs featuring "1980 Stanley Cup Champions Butch Goring" printed across the rims, plus an Islanders 25th anniversary watch with Goring's initials and date engraved on the back, and a 25th anniversary "Core of the Four" size 11 sterling silver ring with Goring's name engraved on the inside. The 3 ceramic mugs stand almost 6” high and feature the Islanders logo on the front, and details of the 4 rounds the team went through in this 1st of 4 Cups the team would hold high. One mug has some slight staining on the rim, another has some staining on the body and a chip put of the base, while the 3rd remains perfect. The face of the Swiss-made Esquire watch, which remains unscratched, shows the Islanders logo plus “25, 1972-73/1996-97”, with the image of 4 Stanley Cups. Goring’s sterling silver ring features the raised image of 4 Cups, along with 25th Anniversary, the years 1980, ’81, ’82, and ’83, with the Islanders logo and “Core of the Four”, all set against a black background. This ring has some nicks and tarnishing to note.
