Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
When players get a taste of winning hockey's ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup, they of course thirst for more. One more ring, and for the Islanders valuable Butch Goring, he landed himself a fourth straight bauble in the spring of 1983 when he and his New York Islanders team, a bonafide dynasty, managed 15 wins and 5 losses, swept the young and talented Edmonton Oilers four straight games in the Cup final, and secured for themselves yet another Stanley Cup ring that they had craved since their last one they earned only a year earlier. Offered is key Islanders forward Butch Goring's magnificent 1983 Stanley Cup ring, with four large and real diamonds set into the face, and with "1983 Stanley Cup Champions" inscribed around the sparkling diamonds. One shank proudly heralds the four-straight Cups accomplished by this powerhouse Islanders squad, with "Islanders" inscribed over the images of four Cups, along with "80, 81, 82, 83" inscribed below. The other shank shows the engraved Islanders logo, with "Goring" above, and his number "91" below. The interior of this size 9, 41-gram beauty has the designer's name "Balfour" embedded, as well as "14K". This rings shows evidence of being worn, with tiny nicks and scratches, but remains in nice overall condition. An incredibly tasteful and beautiful Stanley Cup ring presented to the all-important Butch Goring. One last ring, his fourth in a row. Such a treasure to behold, and comes with an LOA from Mr. Goring.[red] Addendum; the ring has a weight of about 36 grams, not 41 grams as stated in our printed catalog.[/red]
